Jean Prouvé Oak and Metal 'Rayonnage Mural' Shelf for Vitra
Originally designed in 1936 by famed French architect-designer-engineer Jean Prouvé, the 'Rayonnage Mural' ("wall shelving") was a project for the École Nationale Professionelle in the French city of Metz. Executed in two vertical wall brackets of painted bent sheet metal form a frame with precise horizontal cut-outs for the solid wood shelf inserts. The metal frame's streamlined shape evokes the rudder of an aircraft or ship and is a recurring element in Prouvé's designs.
Price per item. The shelves come in natural oak. The wall brackets are available in four original Prouvé colours: Blanc Colombe, Japanese Red, Bleu Marcoule, and Deep Black. Comes with certificate of authenticity from Vitra.
