Jean Prouvé 'Guéridon Bas' Coffee Table for Vitra.
Originally designed in 1944, the 'Guéridon Bas' is an early masterpiece by the French designer and engineer Jean Prouvé. Due to the wartime scarcity of metal, the 'Guéridon Bas' was constructed almost entirely of solid wood, giving it a sense of ease and refinement, brilliantly counterpointing the technical coolness of its design. Executed in choice of solid natural oak, dark oak, or walnut with black powder-coated sheet metal connecting the legs to the table's underside.
