Pair of Large Carl Auböck 'Melies' Brass Bookends.
Designed in the 1950s, this incredibly refined and sculptural pair of bookends are executed in patinated and polished brass, which can be mounted outward or inward-facing depending upon preference. These substantial pieces are ideal for art books and vinyl LPs. Also known as the #4101 bookend, this design is a nod to the silent film director Georges Méliès.
Produced by Carl Auböck IV in the original Auböck Werkstätte in the 7th district of Vienna using the same exacting standards, high-quality materials, original molds, and techniques of his legendary grandfather. Auböck's design career was long and varied, reaching its pinnacle of prestige at the Triennale di Milano in 1954, where he received four gold medals.
