More than five decades after 'Tropique' was first designed and 20 years since the death of its designer, GUBI is proud to pay homage to Mathieu Matégot with the relaunch of one of his most popular collections. 
 
Executed in powder-coated steel that has been treated to protect against the elements; the seats and backrests are made from a durable, flexible outdoor fabric. Hung in a hammock-like manner across the frame, the seat responds to the contours of the body; the backrest is padded with foam.
 
Price is per item. Available in unlimited quantities. The 'Tropique' Dining Chair is available in a black or white powder-coated frame and four upholstery options: Leslie 06, Leslie 12, Leslie Stripe 20, and Leslie Stripe 40. Tasseled fringes may be selected for the the arms, seat, and backrest for a playful poolside design option.  As with the table in the Tropique Collection, the chair features Matégot's distinctive statement curve at the feet.
 
Mathieu Matégot (1910–2001) was a self-taught Hungarian designer who settled in Paris after travelling, studying, and gaining experience in set design, window dressing, fashion, and tapestry. He remains known for his pioneering "Rigitulle" method of bending and shaping metal into his iconic mid-century designs
