Vilhelm Lauritzen VL-1 Brass and Glass Wall Lamp for Louis Poulsen.
Executed in a single handblown glossy white opal glass and unfinished satin polished brass armature and brass arm and backplate. The sconce emits light directed primarily downwards. The opaline glass provides a comfortable and uniform illumination of the area around the fixture. The brass is unlacquered and will develope a unique patina over time. The VL series remains a highly refined and iconic design by one of the Danish modern giants of the midcentury era.
Price is per item. Available in a 2-shade wall lamp variant as well as a pendant or chandelier model in separate listings.
Originally designed in the 1930s by Vilhelm Lauritzen in partnership with Louis Poulsen for the construction of the Radiohuset building on Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, the original VL Ring Crown never appeared there, but not long after, a ring crown based on the original drawings was launched. In 1947, the designer Finn Juhl, who worked for Vilhelm Lauritzen, used the VL ring crown as part of the interior design for the Danish Broadcasting House. The VL ring crown family brings a distinct and authentic touch to stylish interiors as well as a warm light to softly illuminate contemporary living.
Built-in on/off switch on backplate. Designed to be mounted and hardwired directly to a standard 4" US junction box. UL listed.
