Vilhelm Lauritzen 'VL Ring Crown' Brass and Glass Chandelier for Louis Poulsen
The VL Ring Crown family derives from a lamp designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish Broadcasting House in Copenhagen in the 1940s. The chandelier is executed in a brass structure with three, five, or seven handblown glossy white opaline glass shades. The untreated brass structure and canopy will develop a beautiful patina over time. The chandelier emits a soft downward light while the opaline glass provides comfortable and uniform illumination. A highly refined and iconic design by one of the Danish Modern giants of the midcentury era, the VL Ring Crown was featured in the September 2024 issue of Architectural Digest.

The VL Ring Crown chandeliers were originally designed in the 1930s by Vilhelm Lauritzen in partnership with Louis Poulsen for the construction of the Radiohuset building in Copenhagen. The original VL Ring Crown never appeared there, but not long after, a Ring Crown based on the original drawings was launched. In 1947, the designer Finn Juhl, who worked for Vilhelm Lauritzen, used the VL Ring Crown as part of the interior design for the Danish porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl in Copenhagen. True to its original materials and design, the VL Ring Crown was reintroduced in 2019.
