1970s Helena Tynell “Paisankukka” Glass Vase for Riihimäen Lasi Oy, Finland
Sculpturally executed in amber glass. Helena Tynell designed many classics for Finland's Riihimäen Lasi glassworks, the most well-known of which being 'Aurinkopullo' (meaning 'sun bottle') from 1964. The Paisankukka or "Flower for the day" vase features soft layered curves of glass and a 6-inch diameter 'flower' near the opening.
Helena Tynell (1916-2016), a contemporary of Paavo Tynell, was an iconic Finnish glass designer who was a pioneer in her field. Throughout her career, she collaborated with well-known makers such as Taito, Glashutte Limburg, and Riihimäki Glass. Wear consistent with age and use. This piece is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Please contact us for additional images or video.
