Helena Tynell Transparent Blown Glass 'Aurinkopullo' Sun Vase for Riihimaen Lasi.
Sculpturally executed in thick and heavy textured glass. Helena Tynell designed many classics for Finland's Riihimäen Lasi glassworks, the most well-known of which being 'Aurinkopullo' (meaning 'sun bottle') from 1964. The series of vases was produced from 1964 until 1974 and was available in four sizes, as well as in a variety of colors. Its iconic sun relief and geometric appearance make this piece a whimsical addition to any space.
Helena Tynell (1916-2016), a contemporary of Paavo Tynell, was an iconic Finnish glass designer who was a pioneer in her field. Throughout her career, she collaborated with well-known makers such as Taito, Glashutte Limburg, and Riihimäki Glass.
