'Obello' Rechargeable Glass Table Lamp by Bill Curry for GUBI

Originally conceived in 1970 by designer Bill Curry, the 'Obello' was a concept that was never in production until now. Using the visual form of a mushroom, Curry took inspiration from the atomic age, space race, and pop culture to design a lamp with a single glass form, eliminating the need for a separate base. This rechargeable take on Curry's design allows the 'Obello' to move indoors and out.

Executed in a frosted, mouth-blown glass shade in the original variant. New for 2026, the high-gloss Pearl While, Mellow Yellow and Powder pink feature a hand-applied, water-based lacquer for a luminous gloss. This artisanal process leads to subtle variations in the glass, enhancing each lamp’s individuality. The lacquer is carefully bonded to the glass to ensure strength and durability and casts a warm glow when lit.
