Known as "PH," Henningsen was a prolific writer and designer. He once said, “It doesn't cost money to light a room correctly, but it does require culture”.

A fierce critic of fascism, PH fled the Nazis in 1943. Upon returning to Denmark, he continued to create iconic lighting and furniture. Many of his designs are still in production today at Louis Poulsen.
